Indications
- Eczema and dermatitis with secondary infections

Description
- Combines potent topical antibacterial activity of fusidic acid with anti-inflammatory and anti-pruritic activity of corticosteroid betamethasone valerate
- Effective against Staphylococci, Streptococci, Corynebacteria, Neisseria and certain Clostridia and Bacteroides
Pharmacology
- Fusidic acid effective against gram-positive bacteria
- Inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis by fusidic acid
- Betamethasone induces lipocortin which inhibits phospholipase A-2 enzyme
Dosage & Administration
- Adults: Applied 2 times daily and gently massaged into affected areas for 2 weeks
- Shorter course considered if symptoms improve
- Not recommended in children under 3 years of age
Interaction
- Other topical medications contain corticosteroids
Contraindications
- Topical hydrocortisone contraindicated in viral tuberculosis and fungal skin infections
- Hypersensitivity to any of the components

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended for use in pregnancy
- Both detected in breast milk, nursing mothers advised not to use the drug
Precautions & Warnings
- Long term continuous therapy should be avoided
- Avoid use in the face, on flexures and intertriginous areas, and in infants and children
