Indications
- Relieves dry cough

Pharmacology
- Acts directly on brain's cough center
- Non-sedating
- Rapid and complete absorption after oral administration
- Antitussive action of active metabolites
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 2-3 tablets of Butamirate Citrate 50 mg daily
- Adult dosage: 15 ml of Butamirate Citrate syrup 4 times daily
- Adolescent dosage: 1-2 tablets of Butamirate Citrate 50 mg daily
- Children (3-6 yrs) dosage: 5 ml of Butamirate Citrate syrup 3 times daily
- Children (6-12 yrs) dosage: 10 ml of Butamirate Citrate syrup 3 times daily
- Adolescent dosage: 15 ml of Butamirate Citrate syrup 3 times daily
- Children (2 months-1 yrs) dosage: 0.50 ml of Butamirate Citrate pediatric drops 4 times daily
- Children (1-3 yrs) dosage: 0.75 ml of Butamirate Citrate pediatric drops 4 times daily
Interaction
Concomitant use with expectorants should be avoided
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient
Side Effects
- Good tolerance
- Adverse reactions: rash, nausea, diarrhea, vertigo (rare cases)
- Reversible adverse reactions with dose reduction or treatment withdrawal
Pregnancy & Lactation
Caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding, first trimester avoidance, and careful assessment of benefits versus risks
Precautions & Warnings
Avoid concomitant use with expectorants, consult a doctor if cough persists for more than 7 days (more than 3 days in children under 12 years)
Overdose Effects
Symptoms include drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of balance, hypotension. Standard emergency procedures are required.
