Description

Composition
- Each tablet contains: Calcium Carbonate USP 1250 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 500 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 200 IU
- Each DX tablet contains: Calcium Carbonate USP 1500 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 400 IU
- Each effervescent tablet contains: Calcium Carbonate (Coral source) USP 1500 mg equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 400 IU as Cholecalciferol USP
Pharmacology
- Calcium is useful for the prevention and treatment of Osteoporosis and associated fractures
- Vitamin D aids in Calcium absorption and bone formation
- Coral Calcium sourced from coral origin ensures better absorption
- Vitamin D3 helps maintain Calcium balance in the body
Dosage & Administration
- Take one tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water
- Full stomach intake ensures better absorption
- Dissolve 1 effervescent tablet in a glass of water to drink orally
- Stir the solution with a spoon before drinking for better absorption
Interaction
- Thiazide diuretics reduce urinary excretion of calcium
- Systemic corticosteroids reduce calcium absorption
- Ion exchange resins and laxatives may reduce gastrointestinal absorption of vitamin D
- Calcium carbonate may interfere with absorption of tetracycline preparations
- Hypercalcaemia may increase the toxicity of cardiac glycosides during treatment with calcium and vitamin D
Contraindications
- Hypercalcemia and hyperparathyroidism
- Hypercalciuria and nephrolithiasis
- Hypersensitivity to the components
- Severe renal insufficiencies
- Concomitant digoxin therapy

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Daily intake should not exceed 1500 mg calcium and 600 IU cholecalciferol
- Overdoses should be avoided during pregnancy to prevent adverse effects on the fetus
Precautions & Warnings
- Monitor serum calcium levels during long-term treatment
- Renal function monitoring in elderly patients and those on concomitant treatment
- Use caution in patients with impaired renal function or sarcoidosis
- Consider vitamin D dose when prescribing other vitamin D-containing drugs
Overdose Effects
- Can lead to hypervitaminosis D and hypercalcemia
- Symptoms may include anorexia, thirst, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, muscle weakness, fatigue, mental disturbances, polydipsia, polyuria, bone pain
- Treatment involves discontinuing calcium and other relevant medications, rehydration, and monitoring
