Interaction
- Decreases absorption of certain drugs when taken together
- Can interact with biphosphonates, quinolone antibiotics, tetracycline antibiotics, levothyroxine, phenytoin, tiltudronate disodium, thiazide-type diuretics, aluminum- and magnesium-containing antacids, mineral oil, stimulant laxatives, glucocorticoids, oral contraceptives, estrogen compounds, anti-inflammatories, and corticosteroids
Contraindications
- Incomplete or infrequent bowel movements
- Kidney stone

- Increased activity of the parathyroid gland
- High amount of calcium in urine
