Indications

Pharmacology
- Inhibitor of gastric acid secretion
- Blocks hydrogen-potassium-adenosine triphosphatase (H+/K+ ATPase) enzyme system
- Onset of antisecretory effect occurs within one hour
- Maximum effect occurs within two hours
- Inhibition of secretion lasts up to 72 hours

Administration
- Direction for use of IV Injection

- Must be given as a slow intravenous injection
- Intravenous infusion over a period of 20-30 minutes or more
- Reconstituted solution should not be mixed or co-administered in the same infusion set with any other drug
Interaction
- Interaction with ketoconazole

Pregnancy & Lactation
- No adverse effects of Omeprazole on pregnancy or on the health of the fetus/newborn child

Precautions & Warnings
- Avoid concomitant use of clopidogrel
- Potential increased risk for osteoporosis-related fractures
- Atrophic gastritis noted occasionally in long-term treatment
- Concomitant use with methotrexate may lead to toxicities
