Mode of Action
Bactericidal action by interfering with bacterial cell wall synthesis
Absorption
About 40% to 50%, unaffected by food intake
Dosage Adults
200-400 mg daily, single or divided doses
Dosage Children
- 8 mg/kg/day
- 3.75 ml daily (6 months - 1 year)
- 5 ml daily (1-4 years)
- 10 ml daily (5-10 years)
Dosage Typhoid
5 mg/kg body weight twice daily for 10-14 days
Dosage Renal Impairment
Adjusted based on creatinine clearance
Interaction Anticoagulant
May increase prothrombin times
