Description
- Orally active cephalosporin antibiotic
- Bactericidal activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms
- Marked in-vitro bactericidal activity
- Treatment for Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (URTI)
- Treatment for Lower Respiratory Tract Infections
- Treatment for Urinary Tract Infections
- Presence of beta-lactamase enzymes
- Broad spectrum antibiotic
- Kills bacteria by interfering with the synthesis of bacterial cell wall
- Recommended adult dosage of 200-400 mg daily
- Dosage for children is 8 mg/kg/day
- Dosage varies as per age and weight of the child
- Dosage adjustment for severe renal impairment
- Increases in prothrombin times in some patients
- Contraindication in patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics
