Pharmacology
- Bactericidal against broad spectrum of gram positive and gram negative bacteria
- Interferes in synthesis of bacterial cell wall
- Highly stable in the presence of Beta-lactamase enzyme
Dosage & Administration
- Usual course of treatment is 7 days
- Adult dosage: 200-400 mg daily
- Children dosage: 8 mg/kg/day
- Dosage in Renal Impairment
Interaction
- Increases in prothrombin times in some patients
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics
