Pharmacology
- Semisynthetic analogue of Cephalosporin C
- Interferes in the synthesis of bacterial cell wall
- Inhibits transpeptidase enzyme
- First generation cephalosporin
Dosage & Administration
- Usual adult dose: 250 mg to 500 mg every 6 hours
- Maximum adult dose for severe infections: 3 g to 6 g daily
- Children's recommended dosage based on weight
- Total daily dose may be divided and administered every 12 hours
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics

- Cautious use during nursing due to presence in milk
