Indications
- Respiratory tract infections
- Genito-urinary tract infections

Mode of Action
Kills bacteria by interfering in the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall
Dosage & Administration
- Adult:
- Usual dose of 250-500 mg every 6 hours
- Increased dose of 3-6 g daily for severe infections
- Children:
- Dosage range of 25-100 mg/kg/day in divided doses to a maximum of 4 g daily
- Varied recommended doses based on weight
Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics
