Indications
- Relief of symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis
- Relief of symptoms associated with perennial allergic rhinitis
- Treatment of uncomplicated skin manifestations of chronic idiopathic urticaria
- Treatment of allergen-induced asthma
Pharmacology
- Potent H1 receptor antagonist
- No significant anticholinergic effects
- No significant antiserotonic effects
- Inhibition of histamine-mediated early phase of allergic reaction
- Reduction of migration of inflammatory cells
- Reduction of release of mediators associated with late phase of allergic reaction
- Peak plasma concentrations of 257 mcg/L within one hour of administration
- Peak blood levels of 0.3 micrograms/ml reached between thirty & sixty minutes after administration
- Plasma half-life of approximately 11 hours
- Renal clearance of 30 ml/minute
- Consistent absorption from one subject to the next
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 1 tablet or 2 teaspoonfuls daily
- Children 2-6 years old: 1 teaspoonful once daily or 1/2 teaspoonful twice daily
- Children 6 months to 2 years old: 1/2 teaspoonful once daily
- Recommended injectable dosage for adults and adolescents 12 years and older: 10 mg by intravenous injection
- Recommended injectable dosage for children 6 to 11 years old: 5 mg or 10 mg depending on symptom severity by intravenous injection
- Recommended injectable dosage for children 6 months to 5 years old: 2.5 mg by intravenous injection
Interaction
- No clinically significant drug interactions with Theophylline
- No clinically significant drug interactions with Azithromycin
- No clinically significant drug interactions with Pseudoephedrine
- No clinically significant drug interactions with Ketoconazole
- No clinically significant drug interactions with Erythromycin
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with history of hypersensitivity to Cetirizine
- Contraindicated in patients with history of hypersensitivity to hydroxyzine

- No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
- Exercise caution when used during pregnancy
- Excreted in human milk

Use in Special Populations
- In patients with mild to moderate hepatic and renal impairment, clearance of Celozin is reduced
- Safety demonstrated in pediatric patients aged 6 months to 5 years
- Clearance of Celozin reduced in elderly patients
- Plasma levels unaffected by hemodialysis
