Benign gastric and duodenal ulcer: 20 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks
NSAID-associated duodenal or gastric ulcer: 20 mg once daily for 8 weeks
Gastro-esophageal reflux disease: 20 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks, maintenance dose is 20 mg once daily
Long-term management of acid reflux disease: 10-20 mg daily
Acid-related dyspepsia: 10-20 mg once daily for 2-4 weeks
Prophylaxis of acid aspiration: 40 mg on the preceding evening then 40 mg 2-6 hours before surgery
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: Initially 60 mg once daily, usual range 20-120 mg daily
Helicobacter pylori eradication regimen in peptic ulcer disease: Omeprazole is recommended at a dose of 20 mg twice daily in association with antimicrobial agents

Omeprazole lyophilized powder and water for injection is for intravenous administration only
IV infusion should be given over a period of 20-30 minutes or more
IV injection should be given slowly over a period of at least 2 to 5 minutes at a maximum rate of 4 ml/minute
IV infusion solution should be used within 12 hours when dissolved in saline and within 6 hours when dissolved in 5% Dextrose
Reconstituted solution should not be mixed with any other drug in the same infusion set

Decreased intragastric acidity may reduce the absorption of ketoconazole
Metabolized in the liver through cytochrome P450
Can delay the elimination of diazepam, phenytoin, and warfarin
Concomitant treatment with certain drugs may result in increased plasma concentrations of Omeprazole and other medications

Known hypersensitivity to Omeprazole
Suspicion of gastric ulcer requires exclusion of malignancy before treatment initiation

Mild and reversible adverse reactions
Skin rash, urticaria, and pruritus reported
Diarrhoea and headache may be severe in a small number of patients
Gastrointestinal reactions including constipation, nausea/vomiting, flatulence, and abdominal pain
Various isolated cases of adverse effects reported such as photosensitivity, bullous eruption, erythema multiforme, and alopecia

No adverse effects of Omeprazole on pregnancy or the health of the fetus/newborn child reported
Use during pregnancy can be considered safe based on prospective epidemiological studies
No information available on the passage of Omeprazole into breast milk or its effects on the neonate

Avoid concomitant use of clopidogrel and Omeprazole
Observational studies suggest a potential increased risk for osteoporosis-related fractures with PPI therapy
Atrophic gastritis noted occasionally in patients treated long-term with Omeprazole
Concomitant use of PPIs with methotrexate may lead to methotrexate toxicities
