Pharmacology
- Chlorpheniramine Maleate
- Alkylamine antihistamine
- Histamine H1-receptor blocking agent
- Less sedation than promethazine
- Competitive H1-receptor blocking
Dosage and Administration
- Adult: 4 mg every 4-6 hours, maximum 24 mg daily
- Child:
- 6-12 years: 2 mg every 4-6 hours, maximum 12 mg daily
- 2-5 years: 1 mg every 4-6 hours, maximum 6 mg daily
- 1-2 years: 1 mg twice daily
- Below 1 year: Not recommended
Interaction
- Incompatible with calcium chloride
- Incompatible with kanamycin sulfate
- Incompatible with noradrenaline acid tartrate
- Incompatible with pentobarbital sodium
- Incompatible with meglumine adipiodone
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Chlorpheniramine
- Newborn or premature infants
