Pharmacology

Contraindications

  • Diseases associated with hypercalcemia
  • Known hypersensitivity to Vitamin D3
  • Evidence of Vitamin D3 toxicity

Side Effects

  • Symptoms including anorexia, lassitude, nausea & vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, weight loss, polyuria, sweating, headache, thirst, vertigo, raised concentrations of calcium and phosphate in plasma and urine

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Safe use of doses up to 4000 IU during pregnancy
  • Recommended daily intake for pregnant women: 400 IU
  • Excretion of Vitamin D3 and its metabolites in breast milk
  • Importance of following medical practitioner's advice

Precautions & Warnings

  • Monitoring plasma-calcium concentration
