Indications
- Reduction of symptoms of intermittent claudication
- Increased walking distance
- Muscle pain during light exertion
Pharmacology
- Quinolinone derivative
- Inhibition of cellular phosphodiesterase III
- Suppression of cAMP degradation
- Increase in cAMP in platelets and blood vessels
- Inhibition of platelet aggregation
- Vasodilation
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dosage: 100 mg bid
- Timing: at least half an hour before or two hours after breakfast and dinner
- Consideration for coadministration with certain drugs
- Pediatric use not established
Interaction
- Omeprazole and Erythromycin increase systemic exposure
- Diltiazem leads to higher concentrations
Contraindications
- Congestive heart failure
- Known or suspected hypersensitivity
Side Effects
- Common: headache, diarrhoea, vomiting, leg cramps, rash
- Less frequent: anorexia, edema
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No adequate and well controlled studies in pregnant women
- Transfer to milk reported in experimental animals
- Risk to nursing infants
- Consideration for discontinuing nursing or Cilostazol
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution in patients with any degree of heart failure
- No information on concurrent use with Clopidogrel
