Indications
- Metastatic Testicular Tumors

Pharmacology
- Platinum compound
- Intra-and interstrand cross links DNA modification
- Inhibition of DNA, protein, and RNA synthesis
- Non phase-specific in the cell cycle
Dosage & Administration
- Slow intravenous infusion
- Testicular cancer treatment dose: 20 mg/m2 IV daily for 5 days per cycle
- Ovarian tumors treatment dose: 75 to 100 mg/m2 IV per cycle once every 4 weeks
Interaction
- Additive toxicity with antineoplastic drugs
- Nephrotoxic, ototoxic, and renally excreted drug interactions
- Interaction with anticonvulsant, antigout agents
Contraindications
- Pre-existing renal impairment
- History of hypersensitivity to Cisplatin
- Myelosuppressed patients
- Patients with hearing impairment
Side Effects
- Severe nausea and vomiting
- Electrolyte disturbances: hypomagnesemia, hypocalcemia, hypokalemia
- Renal tubular dysfunction
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category D
- No adequate and well controlled studies in pregnant women
