Indications
- For adults, elderly, and children over 1 year
- Indicated for dermatoses including psoriasis, lichen planus, and other skin conditions
Composition
- Contains Clobetasol Propionate BP 0.5 mg (0.05% w/w)
- Available in cream, ointment, scalp application, shampoo, lotion, and spray forms
Pharmacology
- Very potent topical corticosteroid
- Has anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive properties
- Decreases mast cell density and inhibits cytokine production
Dosage
- Apply a thin layer twice daily to affected skin areas
- Super-high potency topical corticosteroid
- Limited to 2 consecutive weeks
- Maximum weekly dose should not exceed 50 gm/week
Administration
- Route of administration: cutaneous
- Creams for moist or weeping surfaces, ointments for dry or scaly lesions
Interaction
- Co-administered drugs may inhibit CYP3A4 leading to increased systemic exposure
Contraindications
- Not indicated for rosacea, acne vulgaris, or perioral dermatitis
- Hypersensitivity to the preparation
- Not indicated for primarily infected skin lesions by fungi or bacteria
Side Effects
- Prolonged use can result in systemic absorption and hypercorticism
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use in pregnancy and lactation should be considered with caution
- Unknown excretion in human milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Long-term continuous therapy should be avoided, particularly in infants and children
- Adrenal suppression can occur readily without occlusion
- Care needed to avoid eye contact

Overdose Effects
- Acute overdosage is unlikely
- Features of hypercortisolism may occur in chronic over-dosage
