Indications
- Treatment of infections caused by gram-positive bacteria
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Respiratory tract, nasal, ear, and throat infections
- Sensitive bacterial infections
Dosage & Administration
- Adults Recommended Dosage: 500mg orally four times a day, 500mg-600mg intramuscularly, 500mg-600mg intravenously, 500mg in pleural cavity, 500mg in joint cavity
- Children Recommended Dosage: Half of adult dosage for children 2 to 10 years, one-fourth of adult dosage for children under 2 years, intramuscularly 250mg with 1.5ml or 500mg with 2ml of sterile water for injection
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to penicillin
Side Effects
- Mild and transient reactions similar to other penicillins
- Fever, diarrhea, indigestion, rash, urticarial or erythematous types of reactions
Precautions & Warnings
- Precautions for Allergic Patients: Caution should be exercised in allergic patients
- Storage Precautions: Keep the dosage forms in a cool and dry place, injections should be stored below 25°C, syrup and drops should be prepared and kept cool, syrup's prepared liquid shall be used within 30 minutes and is effective up to 24 hours at normal temperature
