Indications

• Steroid responsive inflammatory ocular conditions
• Chronic anterior uveities
• Corneal injury
• Penetration of foreign bodies

Pharmacology

• Bactericidal activity of Tobramycin
• Inhibition of normal protein synthesis
• Inhibition of phospholipase A2
• Anti-inflammatory activity of Dexamethasone

Dosage & Administration

• Eye Drops: 3-5 times per day
• Increased dosage for initial 24 to 48 hours
• Eye Ointment: 3-4 times per day
• Pediatric Use below age of 2 years not established

Interaction

• No specific interaction studies
• Interval of 10 minutes between successive applications

Contraindications

• Epithelial herpes simplex keratitis
• Vaccinia and varicella
• Mycobacterial infection of the eye
• Hypersensitivity to any component

Side Effects

• Hypersensitivity
• Localized ocular toxicity
• Elevation of intraocular pressure
• Posterior sub capsular cataract formation
• Delayed wound healing

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Potential benefit justifies the potent risk to the fetus
• Topical administration potentially detectable quantities in human milk

Precautions & Warnings

• Possibility of fungal infections
• Overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
• Cross-sensitivity to other aminoglycoside antibiotics

Overdose Effects

• Overdose through local administration not known
• Specific measures to reduce resorption required in case of accidental oral intake

Therapeutic Class

• Ophthalmic steroid - antibiotic combined preparations

Storage Conditions

• Room temperature storage
• Close the bottle immediately after use
• Do not use for longer than one month after opening the bottle
