Dosage Recommendations
- 30 mg Once daily for Maintenance of Healed erosive esophagitis and relief of heartburn
- 30 mg Once daily for Symptomatic Non-Erosive GERD
- 60 mg Once daily for Healing of erosive esophagitis
- One 30 mg tablet once daily for 6 months for Maintenance of healed erosive esophagitis and relief of heartburn
- One 30 mg tablet once daily for Symptomatic Non-Erosive GERD
Administration
- Can be taken without regard to food
- Should be swallowed whole
- Alternatively, capsules can be administered by opening the capsule and swallowing the intact granules on one tablespoon
Mode of Action
- Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI)
- Suppresses gastric acid secretion by specific inhibition of the (H+/K+)-ATPase in the gastric parietal cell
- Blocks the final step of acid production
- Supplied as a Dual Delayed Release (DDR) formulation in a capsule for oral administration
Interaction
- With Medicine: Atazanavir, Warfarin, Tacrolimus, Clopidogrel & Methotrexate
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation

Precautions & Warnings
- Gastric Malignancy
- Clostridium difficile Associated Diarrhea
- Bone fracture
- Hypomagnesemia
- Concomitant use with Methotrexate
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category B
- No adequate and well-controlled studies with Dexlansoprazole in pregnant women
- No adequate and well-controlled studies with Dexlansoprazole in lactating mother
Use in Special Populations
- Safety and effectiveness in patients below 12 years of age have not been established
- No dose adjustment is necessary for elderly patients
- No dose adjustment of Dexzole is necessary for patients with renal impairment
- No dose adjustment for patients with mild hepatic impairment
- Consider a maximum daily dose of Dexzole 30 mg for patients with moderate hepatic impairment
Overdose Effects
- No reports of significant overdose of Dexzole
- Multiple doses of Dexzole 120 mg and a single dose of Dexzole 300 mg did not result in severe adverse events
