Symptomatic Relief
- Osteoarthritis (OA)
- Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)

Mode of Action
- Selective COX-2 inhibitor
- Inhibition of prostaglandin-mediated pain, inflammation, and fever
- Decreased potential for GI toxicity
Dosage Recommendations
- 30 mg once daily for osteoarthritis
- 90 mg once daily for rheumatoid arthritis
- 120 mg once daily for acute gouty arthritis
- Limited to a maximum of 3 days for postoperative dental surgery pain
Interactions
- With oral anticoagulants
- With diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and angiotensin II antagonists
- With acetylsalicylic acid
- With ciclosporin and tacrolimus
- NSAIDs decrease lithium renal excretion
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance or excipients
- Active peptic ulceration or GI bleeding
- Patients with bronchospasm or allergic reactions to NSAIDs
- Pregnancy, lactation, severe hepatic dysfunction, or renal impairment
