Indications

Pharmacology

Etoricoxib is a potent, orally active cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) specific inhibitor within, and significantly above, the clinical dose range.

Dosage & Administration

  • Recommended doses for Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Ankylosing spondylitis, Acute gouty arthritis, Postoperative dental surgery pain
  • Use of lowest effective daily dose
  • Re-evaluation of patient response periodically

Interaction

  • With medicine:
    • Oral anticoagulants
    • Diuretics, ACE inhibitors and Angiotensin II Antagonists
    • Acetylsalicylic Acid
    • Ciclosporin and tacrolimus
    • Lithium
  • With food & others: Take without regards to meals

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity
  • Active peptic ulceration or Gl bleeding
  • Bronchospasm or allergic-type reactions after taking NSAIDs
  • Pregnancy and lactation
  • Severe hepatic dysfunction
  • Renal creatinine clearance <30 ml/min
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Hypertension
  • Ischaemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, and/or cerebrovascular disease
