Indications
- Symptomatic relief of Osteoarthritis (OA)
- Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)
- Ankylosing spondylitis
- Pain and signs of inflammation associated with acute gouty arthritis
- Short-term treatment of moderate pain associated with dental surgery
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dose for Osteoarthritis: 30 mg once daily, may be increased to 60 mg once daily if necessary
- Recommended dose for Rheumatoid arthritis: 90 mg once daily
- Recommended dose for Ankylosing spondylitis: 90 mg once daily
- Recommended dose for Acute gouty arthritis: 120 mg once daily for 8 days
- Recommended dose for Postoperative dental surgery pain: 90 mg once daily, limited to a maximum of 3 days
- Patients may require additional postoperative analgesia
- Shortest duration possible and lowest effective daily dose should be used to minimize cardiovascular risks
- Patients' need for symptomatic relief and response to therapy should be re-evaluated periodically
Interaction with other drugs
- May increase prothrombin time in subjects stabilized on chronic warfarin therapy
- May reduce the effect of diuretics and other antihypertensive drugs
- Can be used concomitantly with low-dose acetylsalicylic acid used for cardiovascular prophylaxis
- Coadministration with ciclosporin or tacrolimus may increase the nephrotoxic effect
- Decreases lithium renal excretion and increases lithium plasma levels
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients
- Active peptic ulceration or active gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding
- History of allergic-type reactions after taking acetylsalicylic acid or NSAIDs including COX-2 inhibitors
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Severe hepatic dysfunction
- Estimated renal creatinine clearance below 30 ml/min
- Children and adolescents under 16 years of age
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Congestive heart failure (NYHA ll-IV)
- Uncontrolled hypertension
- Established ischaemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, and/or cerebrovascular disease

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended in women attempting to conceive
- Excreted in the milk of lactating rats
- Women who use the product must not breastfeed
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution advised with treatment of patients most at risk of developing gastrointestinal complications with NSAIDs
- Patients with significant risk factors for cardiovascular events should be treated with caution
- May cause reduction in prostaglandin formation and impair renal function
- Caution in patients with a history of cardiac failure, left ventricular dysfunction, or hypertension, and in patients with pre-existing edema
- Monitoring of renal function in high-risk patients is recommended
- Monitor for signs of liver dysfunction and hypersensitivity reactions
- May mask fever and other signs of inflammation
- Caution when co-administering with warfarin or other oral anticoagulants
Overdose Effects
- Administration of single doses up to 500 mg and multiple doses up to 150 mg/day did not result in significant toxicity
- Usual supportive measures should be employed in case of overdose
