Indications
- Relief of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis
- Relief of symptoms associated with chronic idiopathic urticaria
Pharmacology
- Inhibits H1 histamine receptor
- Potent and selective affinity for H1 receptors
- No evidence of antidopaminergic, antiserotonergic, anticholinergic, sedative, or adrenergic blocking activity
Dosage & Administration
- Adults and children 12 years and older: 60 mg twice daily or 120 mg once daily or 180 mg once daily
- Children 6 to 11 years: 30 mg twice daily or 60 mg once daily
- Children 2 to 11 years: 30 mg or 5 ml twice daily (suspension)
- Different dosage for impaired renal function
Interaction
- Increased level of fexofenadine with erythromycin or ketoconazole
- No interaction with omeprazole
- Reduced bioavailability with aluminium and magnesium hydroxide containing antacids
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride or any of its ingredients

Use in Special Populations
- Altered pharmacokinetics in renal impaired patients
- No substantial effect on moderate to severe hepatic disease
- Altered pharmacokinetics in individuals over 65 years of age
