Indications
- Seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis
- Chronic idiopathic urticaria
Pharmacology
- H1 histamine receptor antagonist
- Blocks release of histamine and other inflammatory mediators
- Potent and selective affinity for H1 receptors
Dosage & Administration
- Adults and children 12+ years: 60 mg twice daily or 120 mg once daily or 180 mg once daily
- Children 6-11 years: 30 mg twice daily or 60 mg once daily
- Children 2-11 years: 30 mg or 5 ml suspension twice daily
Interaction
- No hepatic biotransformation
- Increased plasma levels with erythromycin or ketoconazole, minimal effects on QT interval
- Reduced bioavailability with antacids
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride or any of its ingredients
