Indications
- Relief of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis
- Relief of symptoms associated with chronic idiopathic urticaria
- Improves health-related quality of life and work/activity productivity
Pharmacology
- H1 histamine receptor mediation
- Exposure to allergen and release of histamine and inflammatory mediators
- Fexofenadine as an inverse agonist of the H1 receptor
Dosage & Administration
- Dosage for allergic rhinitis in adults and children 12 years and older
- Different dosage for impaired renal function
- Dosage for chronic idiopathic urticaria in adults and children 12 years and older
- Dosage for children from 6 months to less than 2 years
Interaction
- No hepatic biotransformation and related interactions
- Coadministration with erythromycin or ketoconazole
- No interaction with omeprazole
- Administration with antacid containing aluminium and magnesium hydroxide gels
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride or any of its ingredients

- Limited data on pregnancy use
- No data on human milk content after administration
- Not recommended for breastfeeding mothers

- Limited data in older people and renally or hepatically impaired patients

- Altered pharmacokinetics in individuals with renal impairment
- Moderate to severe hepatic disease does not affect pharmacokinetics substantially
