Description
- Fastel is indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria in adults and children 12 years of age and over.
Dosage and administration
- Adults and children 12 years and older: 60 mg twice daily or 120 mg once daily or 180 mg once daily
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride or any of its ingredients
Interaction
- Interaction with erythromycin or ketoconazole may result in increased fexofenadine levels; no interaction with omeprazole; administration with antacids containing aluminum and magnesium hydroxide reduces bioavailability
Side effects
- Common: headache, drowsiness, dizziness; Uncommon: fatigue; hypersensitivity reactions, tachycardia, palpitations, diarrhea, rash, urticaria, pruritus
Pregnancy and lactation
- Not recommended in pregnancy or breastfeeding; limited data on human milk content after administration
Precautions and warnings
- Use with care in older people, renally or hepatically impaired patients; warn patients with ongoing cardiovascular disease of potential adverse reactions; unlikely to affect the ability to drive or use machines

- Dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, dry mouth; no established maximum tolerated dose; consider standard measures for unabsorbed product; symptomatic and supportive treatment recommended; haemodialysis not effective for removal
