Indications
- Short-term treatment of moderate to severe melasma of the face
- Sun avoidance after treatment
- Use of SPF 30 or higher sunscreen
Pharmacology
- Active ingredients: Fluocinolone Acetonide, Hydroquinone, Tretinoin
- Mechanism of action unknown
- Fluocinolone Acetonide is a corticosteroid for topical dermatological use
- Hydroquinone is a depigmenting agent interrupting melanin synthesis
- Tretinoin is a keratolytic agent
Dosage & Administration
- Applied once daily at night
- Applied at least 30 minutes before bedtime
- Gently wash face and neck with mild cleanser
- Thin film application to hyperpigmented areas including surrounding skin
- Sunscreen use during the day
- Use of moisturizers and cosmetics during the day
- Pediatric use not established
Interaction
- Avoid use of medicated or abrasive soaps and cleansers
- Avoid cosmetics with drying effects
- Avoid products with high alcohol concentration
- Avoid concomitant use of photosensitizing medications
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to product or components
Side Effects
- Rare severe allergic reactions
- Possible skin reactions: redness, peeling, burning, dryness, itching
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category C
- Teratogenic effects of tretinoin
- Caution urged for use during pregnancy and lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Potential irritation from Hydroquinone and Tretinoin
- Local skin reactions expected
- Corticosteroid may cause systemic effects
- Monitoring for HPA axis suppression
