Mode of Action
- Interacts with Gamma Aminobutyric Acid (GABA)-Benzodiazepine Receptor Complex
Dosage and Administration
- Initiate treatment with 0.25 to 0.5 mg three times daily
- Maximum dose should not exceed 4 mg/day
- Elderly and hepatic patients: start with 0.25 mg, two or three times daily
- Individualized dosage for maximum benefit
- Gradual dosage reduction when discontinuing therapy
Interaction
- Aggravated by concomitant use of psychotropic drugs
- Interacts with anticonvulsants, antihistamines, alcohol, and oral contraceptives
