Description

• Topical eye antiviral indicated for the treatment of acute herpetic keratitis (dendritic ulcers)
• Contains active ingredient Ganciclovir, a guanosine derivative that inhibits DNA replication by herpes simplex viruses (HSV)
• Recommended dosing regimen is 1 drop in the affected eye 5 times per day, then 1 drop 3 times per day for 7 days
• Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Ganciclovir
• Most common adverse reactions: blurred vision, eye irritation, punctate keratitis, conjunctival hyperemia
• Pregnancy Category C, caution in nursing mothers
• Indicated for topical eye use only
• Pediatric use: safety and efficacy not established in patients below 2 years

Indications

• Treatment of acute herpetic keratitis (dendritic ulcers)

Pharmacology

• Active ingredient: Ganciclovir, inhibits DNA replication by herpes simplex viruses (HSV), inhibits viral DNA-polymerase, terminates DNA replication

Dosage & Administration

• Recommended dosing: 1 drop in affected eye 5 times per day, then 1 drop 3 times per day for 7 days

Contraindications

• Known hypersensitivity to Ganciclovir

Storage Conditions

• Store at 15°C to 30°C in a dry place protected from light
