Description
- Reduces blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes Mellitus
- Stimulates insulin release from pancreatic cells
- Decreases hepatic glucose output
- Usual initial dose is 40 to 80 mg daily
- Can be increased up to 320 mg daily in divided doses when needed
- Recommended daily dose is one to four tablets (maximum 120 mg) in a single intake at breakfast time
- Tablet to be taken with a glass of water at breakfast time
- Swallow whole tablet without chewing or crushing
- Always eat a meal after taking the tablet
- Interacts with other medicines like sulphonamides, clarithromycin, beta-blockers, ACE-inhibitors, miconazole, fluconazole, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, phenylbutazone, metformin, GLP-1 receptor agonists, insulin, etc.
- Can be taken with food and non-alcoholic drinks
- Avoid drinking alcohol while on medication
- May impair concentration and reaction if blood sugar is too low or too high
- Contains lactose
- Not recommended while breastfeeding
- Not recommended for use during pregnancy
