Indications
- To relieve chronic heartburn symptoms and other symptoms associated with GERD
- For the healing of erosive esophagitis
- For maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis
- In combination with amoxicillin and clarithromycin for eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection in patients with duodenal ulcer disease

Pharmacology
- Suppresses gastric acid secretion
- Inhibition of H+/K+-ATPase
- Optical isomer of proton pump inhibitor
- Peak plasma levels occur at approximately 1.5 hours
- Metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzyme system
- Plasma protein binding is constant over a certain concentration range
- Plasma elimination half-life is approximately 1-1.5 hours
Dosage
- 20 mg or 40 mg Once Daily for Healing of Erosive Esophagitis
- 20 mg Once Daily for Maintenance of Healing of Erosive Esophagitis
- 20 mg Once Daily for Symptomatic GERD
- Triple Therapy for Helicobacter Pylori eradication
- Dosing range for Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
- Dosing range for Acid-related Dyspepsia
- 20 mg Once Daily for Duodenal ulcer and Gastric ulcer
Administration
- Tablet or capsule should be swallowed whole and taken one hour before a meal
- Oral Suspension to be taken with water according to specific instructions
- IV Injection or IV infusion for specific conditions and patient groups
Interaction
- Metabolized in the liver by CYP2C19 and CYP3A4
- No clinically relevant interactions with certain CYP enzymes expected
- Potential interference with CYP2C19 substrates
- Possibility of interfering with absorption of drugs dependent on gastric pH
- Increased plasma levels observed with certain drug combinations
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the formulation
