Indications
- Antispasmodic drug
- Treatment of gastrointestinal smooth muscle spasms
- Treatment of genitourinary tract spasms
- Relief of abdominal cavity muscle spasms
- Treatment of spastic dysmenorrhea
- Relief of renal or biliary severe pain
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 20mg four times a day
- Pediatric dosage: 10mg three times a day (6-12 years)
- Intramuscular injection dosage: 20mg for adults
- Intramuscular application for endoscopy: Higher frequency
Contraindications
- Prostatic enlargement patients prohibited from use
- Elderly patients cautioned in usage
- Paralytic ileus or pyloric stenosis patients prohibited from use
- Glaucoma patients prohibited from use
Side Effects
- Dry mouth
- Mydriasis
- Increased intraocular pressure
- Flushing
- Dry skin
- Bradycardia
- Followed by tachycardia and arrhythmia
- Occasional drowsiness
- Nausea
- Dizziness
- Staggering
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Caution in first three months of pregnancy
Precautions & Warnings
- Potential to cause mental agitation and restlessness
- Patients undergoing treatment should avoid driving or operating machinery
- Caution in hyperthyroidism, cardiac insufficiency, or heart failure
- Avoid alcohol consumption
- Use with caution in combination with other anticholinergics, antihistamines, beta-blockers, and tricyclic antidepressants
