Description
- Smooth muscle antispasmodic medication
- Treatment of gastrointestinal and genitourinary tract spasm
- Relief of gastrointestinal, renal or biliary severe pain
- Management of spastic dysmenorrhoea
Dosage and administration
- Adult dosage: 20mg four times daily
- Pediatric dosage (6-12 years): 10mg three times daily or as directed by a physician
- Injection for muscle or intravenous use: 20mg standard dose, may repeat after 30 minutes if necessary, higher frequency for endoscopy
Contraindications
- Prostatic enlargement patients prohibited
- Elderly patients cautioned
- Paralytic ileus or pyloric stenosis patients prohibited
- Avoid use in patients with glaucoma
Side effects
- Dry mouth
- Pupil dilation
- Increased intra-ocular pressure
- Flushing
- Skin dryness
- Bradycardia and subsequent tachycardia
- Fatigue, nausea, dizziness, and staggering
Pregnancy and lactation
- Use with caution in the first trimester of pregnancy
Precautions and warnings
- May cause drowsiness and mental impairment
- Caution while operating vehicles or machinery
- Refrain from alcohol consumption
- Exercise caution in thyrotoxicosis, cardiac insufficiency, or heart failure
- Reduced dose may be necessary when used with other anticholinergic medications or tricyclic antidepressants

Reconstitution
