Indications

• Treatment of airflow obstruction in COPD patients
• Long-term maintenance bronchodilator treatment

Description

• Long-acting β2-adrenergic agonist
• Acts locally in the lung as a bronchodilator
• Stimulation of intracellular adenyl cyclase
• Pharmacological effects of β2-adrenoceptor agonist drugs

Dosage & Administration

• Once-daily maintenance bronchodilator treatment
• Oral inhalation only
• Recommended dosage of 75 mcg, 150 mcg, 300 mcg capsules
• Administered once daily at the same time
• No dosage adjustment for geriatric patients
• Not indicated for pediatric use

Interaction

• Interaction with Adrenergic Drugs, Xanthine Derivatives, Steroids, or Diuretics
• Concomitant treatment precautions
• Caution with monoamine oxidase inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, and drugs prolonging QTc interval
• Interference with β-adrenergic receptor antagonists (beta-blockers)

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in asthma patients without long-term asthma control medication
• Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the drug or its ingredients

Side Effects

• Commonly reported adverse effects such as cough, headache, nausea
• Less common side effects including hypersensitivity reactions, tachycardia, dizziness

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Pregnancy Category C
• Caution in pregnancy and nursing women

Precautions & Warnings

• Serious breathing problems in asthma patients
• Not approved for asthma treatment

Overdose Effects

• Expected signs and symptoms associated with overdose
• Excessive beta-adrenergic stimulation
• Potential occurrence of serious symptoms such as cardiac arrest

Storage Conditions

• Capsules must be stored in the blister and only removed immediately before use
