Indications
- Treatment of essential hypertension
- Control blood pressure with perindopril alone
Pharmacology
- Nonsulphydryl ACE inhibitor
- Hydrolysed to perindoprilat
- Inhibition of ACE activity
- Decreased levels of angiotensin II
- Increased plasma renin activity
- Interference with the degradation of bradykinin
- Therapeutic activity of perindopril
- Inhibition of sodium reabsorption
- Increased urinary excretion of sodium and chlorides
- Antihypertensive action
Dosage & Administration
- 1-2 tablets per day
- Morning dose before a meal
- Initiate treatment in renal insufficiency with adequate dose
Interaction
- Potentiated hypotensive effects with antihypertensive & antipsychotic drug
- Reduced antihypertensive effect with NSAIDs
- Risk of hyperkalemia with ARB and Potassium Sparing diuretics
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to perindopril/ indapamide
- Hypersensitivity to any other ACE inhibitor
