Indications

Pharmacology
- Mode of Action: Proton pump inhibitor
- Absorption: Enteric-coated pellet formulation
- Distribution: 97% bound to plasma proteins
- Metabolism: Extensively metabolized in the liver
- Excretion: Less than 1% excreted in the urine
Dosage
- Oral Dosage Form:
- Healing of Erosive Esophagitis: 20 mg or 40 mg Once Daily for 4-8 Weeks
- Symptomatic GERD: 20 mg Once Daily for 4 Weeks
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: 20-80 mg once daily
- Acid-related Dyspepsia: 20-40 mg once daily for 2-4 weeks
- IV Injection or IV Infusion: Dosing varies based on patient age, weight, and specific condition
Administration
- Tablet or capsule: Swallowed whole one hour before a meal
- Oral Suspension:
- Stirred with water and consumed within 30 minutes
- Administered through a nasogastric or gastric tube
- IV Injection: Intravenously over a period of at least 3 minutes
Interaction
- Metabolism: Primarily by CYP2C19 and CYP3A4
- Drug Interactions:
- Not likely to inhibit CYPs 1A2, 2A6, 2C9, 2D6, 2E1, and 3A4
- May interfere with the absorption of certain drugs
