Chemical Composition

Mechanism of Action

  • Inhibits synthesis of prostaglandins
  • Acts as a peripherally acting analgesic
  • Inhibits the cyclooxygenase enzyme system

Dosage Forms

  • Tablet

Recommended Dosage

  • 10 mg every 4-6 hours for tablets
  • Varied doses for injections based on age and condition
  • 1 drop in each eye 4 times daily for eye drops

Drug Interactions

  • Increased side effects with other NSAIDs or aspirin
  • Enhanced anti-coagulant effect with anti-coagulants
  • Reduced anti-hypertensive effect with Beta Blockers
  • Increased risk of renal impairment with ACE Inhibitors
  • Enhanced toxicity of methotrexate

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to Ketorolac or other NSAIDs
  • Children under 16 years of age
  • Prophylactic analgesic use before surgery

  • Avoid use while wearing contact lenses
