Indications
- Short-term management of post-operative pain

Description
- Belongs to pyrrolo-pyrrole group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID)
- Chemical name: 5 benzoyle-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrroligine-1-carboxylic acid, compound with 2 - amino-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol (1:1)
- Inhibits prostaglandins synthesis
- Associated with the S-form
- Highly protein bound and metabolized in the liver
Pharmacology
- Potent analgesic
- Inhibits cyclooxygenase enzyme system
- Minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet: Recommended dose is 10 mg every 4-6 hours for short-term use
- Injection: Used for moderately severe acute pain management, with specific dosages for different age groups and conditions
- Eye Drops: Adult dosage is 1 drop in each eye 4 times daily
Interaction
- NSAIDs or aspirin: Increases side effects
- Anti-coagulants: Enhances anti-coagulant effect
- Beta Blocker: Reduces anti-hypertensive effect
- ACE Inhibitors: Increases risk of renal impairment
- Methotrexate: Enhances toxicity of methotrexate
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to drug or other NSAIDs
- Children under 16 years of age
- Prophylactic analgesic before surgery
