Indications

Description

  • Belongs to pyrrolo-pyrrole group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
  • Chemically known as 5 benzoyle-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrroligine-1-carboxylic acid, compound with 2 - amino-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol (1:1)
  • Inhibits synthesis of prostaglandins as a peripherally acting analgesic
  • Biological activity associated with the S-form
  • Linear pharmacokinetic property
  • Highly protein bound
  • Metabolized in the liver
  • Excretion in the urine

Pharmacology

  • Potent analgesic of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
  • Acts by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzyme system
  • Minimally anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose

Dosage & Administration

  • Recommended tablet dose of 10 mg every 4-6 hours for short-term use

  • Discontinue use in patients with corneal epithelial breakdown
  • Avoid administration while wearing contact lenses
