Indications
- Short-term management of moderate to severe acute post-operative pain
- Relief of pain, inflammation, and light sensitivity after ocular surgery
- Decrease in eye inflammation or redness caused by seasonal allergies
Chemical Composition
- Pyrrolo-pyrrole group NSAID
- 5 benzoyle-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrroligine-1-carboxylic acid compound with 2 - amino-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol
Pharmacology
- Inhibits cyclooxygenase enzyme system
- Minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet: Recommended dose of 10 mg every 4-6 hours
- Injection: Single or multiple doses, IV bolus given over no less than 15 seconds
- Eye Drops: 1 drop in each eye 4 times daily
- Age-specific dosing for different routes of administration
Interaction
- Increased side effects with other NSAIDs or aspirin
- Enhanced anti-coagulant effect with anti-coagulants
- Reduced anti-hypertensive effect with beta blockers
- Increased risk of renal impairment with ACE inhibitors
- Enhanced methotrexate toxicity
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ketorolac or other NSAIDs
- Children under 16 years of age
- Prophylactic analgesic before surgery

- Discontinue use in corneal epithelial breakdown and monitor corneal health
- Avoid administering while wearing contact lenses
