Indications

Description

Belongs to pyrrolo-pyrrole group of NSAIDs
Chemically known as 5 benzoyle-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrroligine-1-carboxylic acid

Biological activity associated with the S-form
Linear pharmacokinetic property

Pharmacology

Potent analgesic NSAID
Inhibits cyclooxygenase enzyme system
Minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose

Dosage & Administration

Tablet recommended dose of 10 mg every 4-6 hours
Injection recommended for moderate to severe acute pain management
IV bolus administration over 15 seconds
IM administration given slowly and deeply into the muscle
Analgesic effect begins within 30 minutes
Maximum effect in 1 to 2 hours after dosing IV or IM
Duration of analgesic effect is 4 to 6 hours

Interaction

Increased side effects with other NSAIDs or aspirin

Hypersensitivity to Ketorolac and other NSAIDs
