Indications
- Short-term management of moderate to severe acute post-operative pain
- Relieves pain, inflammation, and light sensitivity after ocular surgery
- Decreases eye inflammation or redness caused by seasonal allergies
Description
- Drug of pyrrolo-pyrrole group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
- Chemical composition: 5 benzoyle-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrroligine-1-carboxylic acid, compound with 2 - amino-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol (1:1)
- Inhibits synthesis of prostaglandins and acts as a peripherally acting analgesic
Pharmacology
- Potent analgesic of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
- Inhibits the cyclooxygenase enzyme system and prostaglandin synthesis
- Minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended tablet dose: 10 mg every 4-6 hours for short-term use only (up to 7 days)
- Injection for acute pain management on a regular or as-needed schedule

Interaction
- NSAIDs or aspirin increase side effects of Ketonaaf

- Methotrexate enhances the toxicity of methotrexate
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ketorolac or other NSAIDs
- Not suitable for use in children under 16 years of age
- Contraindicated as prophylactic analgesic before surgery

- Melana, peptic ulcer, and pancreatitis
