Indications
- Prophylactic treatment of bronchial asthma
- Symptomatic treatment of allergic conditions including rhinitis and conjunctivitis
- Alleviating the complications of itching, pain, and tenderness associated with neurofibroma
- Symptomatic treatment of allergy such as hayfever and urticaria
Pharmacology
- Anti-allergic properties

Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 1 mg twice daily with food
- Possible increase to 2 mg twice daily in severe cases
- Children above 3 years: 1 mg twice daily with food
- Initial treatment for easily sedated patients: 0.5 to 1 mg at night
Interaction
- Potentiation of sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamines, and alcohol effects
- Reversible fall in platelet count when used concomitantly with oral antidiabetic agents
Contraindications
- Avoidance of use with oral antidiabetic agents
- Lack of evidence for teratogenic effects in pregnancy or during breastfeeding
