Indications
- For the prophylactic treatment of bronchial asthma
- Symptomatic treatment of allergic conditions including rhinitis and conjunctivitis
- For alleviating the complications of itching, pain and tenderness associated with neurofibroma
- Symptomatic treatment of allergy such as hayfever, urticaria
Pharmacology
- Anti-allergic properties
- Antihistamine properties
- Anti-anaphylactic properties
- Sustained inhibitory effect on histamine reactions
Dosage & Administration
- Adults: 1 mg twice daily with food
- Children above 3 years: 1 mg twice daily with food
- Use in elderly: Same as adult dose or as advised by the physician
Interaction
- Potentiates effects of sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamines and alcohols
- Reversible fall in platelet count observed in some patients
Contraindications
- Avoid concomitant use with oral antidiabetic agents
- Caution in pregnancy and breastfeeding

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Continue previous treatment for a minimum of two weeks after starting Ketotifen
- Caution in patients with intercurrent infections
- Impaired reactions at the beginning of treatment
- Avoid alcoholic drinks
- Potentiates the effects of sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamines and alcohol
