Indications
- Peptic ulcer diseases
- Gastroesophageal reflux diseases
- Ulcer induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
- Eradication of Helicobacter pylori (in combination with antibiotics)
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
Pharmacology
Proton pump inhibitor that suppresses the final step in gastric acid production
Dosage & Administration
- Dosage range for benign gastric ulcer: 40 mg daily in the morning for 4-8 weeks
- Dosage range for gastro-esophageal reflux disease: 20-40 mg daily in the morning for 4-8 weeks
- Dosage range for duodenal ulcer: 40 mg daily in the morning for 2-4 weeks
- Dosage range for duodenal ulcer associated with Helicobacter pylori: Pantoprazole 40 mg twice daily in association with antimicrobial agents for one week
- Dosage range for prophylaxis of NSAID-associated gastric or duodenal ulcer: 20 mg daily
- Initial dosage range for Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: 80 mg once daily, max. 160 mg daily; dosages above 80 mg given in 2 divided doses
- Dosage range for IV Injection: 40-80 mg once daily for various conditions

Contraindications
Patients with known hypersensitivity to any components of the formulation
Side Effects
- Common side effects: headache, diarrhea
- Rare side effects: abdominal pain, flatulence, rash, insomnia, hyperglycemia

- No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
- Excretion in human milk
- Usage during pregnancy only if clearly needed, consideration for nursing mothers
Precautions & Warnings
- Tablet should not be split, chewed, or crushed
- Long-term therapy may lead to malabsorption of Vitamin B12 or increase the risk of osteoporosis related disorders

- Direction for use of IV injection to be given slowly over a period of at least 2 to 5 minutes
