Indications
- Peptic ulcer diseases
- Gastroesophageal reflux diseases
- Ulcer induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
- Eradication of Helicobacter pylori (in combination with antibiotics)
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
Pharmacology
- Proton pump inhibitor
- Suppresses final step in gastric acid production
- Covalently binds to H+/K+ATPase enzyme system
Dosage & Administration
- Dosage for benign gastric ulcer: 40 mg daily in the morning for 4 weeks
- Dosage for GERD: 20-40 mg daily in the morning for 4 weeks
- Dosage for duodenal ulcer: 40 mg daily in the morning for 2 weeks
- Prophylaxis of NSAID-associated gastric or duodenal ulcer: 20 mg daily
- IV dosage for duodenal/gastric ulcer: 40 mg once daily for 7-10 days
- IV dosage for prevention of rebleeding in peptic ulcer: IV 80 mg followed by 8 mg/hour infusion for 72 hours

- No significant drug interactions observed in clinical studies
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formulation

Precautions & Warnings
- Tablet should not be split, chewed or crushed
- Long-term therapy may lead to malabsorption of cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12)
- May increase risk of osteoporosis related disorders

- No known symptoms of overdosage in humans
- Highly protein bound, not readily dialyzable

Reconstitution
- IV injection should be given as a slow intravenous injection
- Solution obtained by adding 10 ml 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection to the vial containing powder
- Reconstituted solution may be stored at room temperature for a maximum of 4 hours
- IV infusion should be given over a period of approximately 15 minutes
