Indications

Treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis
Treatment of bacterial corneal ulcer
Treatment of blepharitis
Treatment of hordeolum
Treatment of perioperative conditions

Pharmacology

Sterile topical ophthalmic solution
Synthetic, broad spectrum, third generation fluoroquinolone bactericidal antibiotic
Inhibits bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase enzymes

Dosage & Administration

0.5% eye drop for adults and children 1 year and older
1-2 drops every 2 hours for first 2 days
1-2 drops every 4 hours for days 3-7
1.5% eye drop for adults and children 6 years and older
1-2 drops every 30 minutes to 2 hours for days 1-3
1-2 drops every 1 to 4 hours from day 4 through treatment completion
Not recommended for children below 1 year

Interaction

No specific drug interaction studies conducted
Systemic administration may elevate plasma concentrations of theophylline
May interfere with metabolism of caffeine
May enhance effects of oral anticoagulant warfarin and its derivatives

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Levofloxacin or other quinolones
Hypersensitivity to any components of the medication

Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi
Discontinue use if superinfection occurs
