Indications

Composition
- 1.5 mg levonorgestrel per tablet
- 0.75 mg levonorgestrel per tablet

Description
- Emergency contraceptive for women
- Not to be used as regular birth control pill
- Also known as Post Coital Pill and Morning After Pill
- Active substance: Levonorgestrel
Pharmacology
- Suppresses gonadotropins to inhibit ovulation
- Binds to progesterone and androgen receptors
- Slows release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone
Dosage
- 1.5 mg Tablet: Take 1 tablet within 72 hours of intercourse
- 0.75 mg Tablet: Take first tablet within 72 hours and second tablet after 12 hours
Administration
- Oral use
- Take with a glass of water
Interaction
- Reduced effectiveness with certain anticonvulsant agents and medications like rifampicin and griseofulvin
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to levonorgestrel or any of the excipients

- Nausea and vomiting
- Dizziness, fatigue, headache
- Abdominal pain
- Breast tenderness
- Bleeding after taking the medicine
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not indicated in pre-existing pregnancy
- Levonorgestrel secreted into breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Must be used exceptionally
- Does not allow to prevent pregnancy in every instance
- Cannot replace regular contraception
- Mandatory pregnancy test in case of abnormal bleeding or delayed menses
