Description
- Panpro is a proton pump inhibitor used to suppress acid secretion for therapeutic benefits like treating peptic ulcer diseases, gastroesophageal reflux diseases, ulcers induced by NSAIDs, eradication of Helicobacter pylori, and Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome.
Dosage and Administration
- Oral administration for benign gastric ulcer, gastro-esophageal reflux disease, duodenal ulcer, duodenal ulcer associated with Helicobacter pylori, prophylaxis of NSAID-associated gastric or duodenal ulcer, Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome; IV injection for duodenal ulcer, gastric ulcer, gastroesophageal reflux disease associated with erosive esophagitis, prevention of rebleeding in peptic ulcer, prophylaxis of acid aspiration, long-term management of Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome, and other pathological hypersecretory conditions.

Pharmacology
- Proton pump inhibitor that suppresses the final step in gastric acid production by covalently binding to the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system at the surface of the gastric parietal cell.
Interaction
- No significant drug interactions observed in clinical studies
Contraindications
- Patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formulation
Side Effects
- Well tolerated in both short-term and long-term treatment
- Common side effects include headache and diarrhea
- Rare side effects include abdominal pain, flatulence, rash, insomnia, and hyperglycemia

- Usage during pregnancy only if clearly needed, should be used in nursing women after considering the benefit to the mother.
Precautions & Warnings
- Tablet should not be split, chewed, or crushed
- Long-term therapy may lead to malabsorption of Vitamin B12 and increase the risk of osteoporosis related disorders

- No known symptoms of overdosage in humans
- Panpro is highly protein bound and not readily dialyzable
- Symptomatic and supportive management is recommended for overdose
